The Lancaster Story Slam, which began in January, 2015, is the brainchild of co-founders Carla Wilson and Jim Breslin. Carla was a fan of the West Chester Story Slam and approached WC Story Slam founder Jim Breslin with the idea of starting a story slam in Lancaster. The two met in the summer of 2014 and discussed modeling Lancaster Story Slam on West Chester Story Slam.
Carla Wilson, co-founder and event producer, is the co-owner of Wilson Media Services with her husband David. She provides internet marketing and media production support to entrepreneurs and businesses. Carla has been a loyal audience member and occasional judge at the West Chester Story Slam and York Story Slam. Carla currently lives in Lancaster, PA.
Jim Breslin, co-founder, is the founder of the West Chester Story Slam, which debuted in 2010. Since the first event, over 660 stories have been told to live audiences in local bars. Stories are posted on the West Chester Story Slam YouTube channel and selected stories are featured on the monthly West Chester Story Slam podcast. In 2014, the anthology West Chester Story Slam: Selected Stories 2010-2014 was published. Jim is also the author of Shoplandia, a novel inspired by his 17 years at QVC.
Larry Geiger, creative director, is an artist, graphic designer, book cover designer, and a self-described “font geek.” He developed his business, technology and marketing chops over 20 years as a print and digital creative. Michelle Johnsen is a fine arts photographer and the owner of Michelle Johnsen Photography. Her latest collection of photographs, which explored humanity’s connection to land through gathering and foraging, was recently shown at Modern Art in Lancaster, PA.
